What is Counter Surveillance and why do you need it?

Counter surveillance is the art and science of locating invasive electronic intelligence-gathering devices. Surveillance is used as a weapon in personal vendettas, business competitions, international espionage and all forms of legal litigation. Anyone who is under electronic surveillance is deprived of their privacy, at the very least, and can suffer far worse effects, depending on the exact nature of the spying technique used against them.

If you suspect that someone may be using a hidden camera against you to violate your privacy, it should be easy to catch them using the most basic counterintelligence measures. However, if you suspect that a  competitor may be spying on your business, there may be much more involved technologies involved, which will likely require a professional investigator to discover. Either way, make sure you know the letter of the law when it comes to surveillance measures.

It permits the individual that is doing the counter surveillance to return back head to head with the character following them. Often times, the surveillance will prevent immediately. In a few cases, the surveillance will prevent, however, a brand new character will start the surveillance, a person that the character being observed could now no longer recognize. Counter surveillance may be useful in a character’s private lifestyles or of their business. This tactic is beneficial to get a man or woman profile of a character, to save you a crime, or maybe save you one from occurring.

The counter-surveillance can take place openly or covertly. Most surveillance professionals opt for a covert method. That way, the person pursuing a target will never know that someone is counter-surveillance. This is not necessary for counter-surveillance. Vigilance to look around, walk down alleys, and look around corners. These things are not professional either. The more secretly you proceed with the counter-surveillance, the more effective your counter-surveillance is.

In some cases, a person performing counter surveillance will need to be more overt and aggressive. They may turn a corner, and stop and wait for the person following a target. They may also walk across a bridge, and turn to see who is following them. This will allow them to see exactly who the threat is, and in some cases, confront that person.

When monitoring the counter, a clean-up is sometimes necessary. This is simply an execution so that the target can lose the person doing the surveillance. If the cleanup run is successful, the target will feel like it is no longer following. In some cases, the cleanup race will alert the person doing the surveillance that you know they are following you.

Some people may try to handle counter surveillance on their own. In some cases, they can be successful. In more serious cases, and if you want to be 100% sure that the counter surveillance will be effective, it is a good idea to leave it up to the professionals.
